Description:
The Sustainable Peace Project is an interdisciplinary project that aims to uncover the fundamental dynamics of sustainably peaceful societies. Grounded in complexity science, the project conducts basic research utilizing multiple methodologies to design, test, and refine hypotheses on sustainable peace.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the organization, implementation and promotion of the Sustainable Peace Mapping Initiative at AC4. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Project Manager will be in charge of designing and managing all phases of the project, to this end, s/he will:
- Manage ongoing planned activities related to the project;
- Manage the development of additional data collection strategies and synthesis methods to fulfill program objectives;
- Conduct primary and desk research related to the project’s hypotheses on sustainable peace;
- Manage and contribute to project publications;
- Manage, supervise and work closely with project consultants and interns;
- Oversee the planning of events, conferences, and other programs;
- Provide timely progress reports to AC4‘s Executive Co-Chairs and Director; and
- Manage and monitor budgets working closely with budget administrators and other support staff.
Responsibilities include:
The Project Manager will drive the Sustainable Peace Project forward through its successive stages of planning, commissioning of technical work, ensuring effective and timely progress. He/she is responsible for identifying key resources and providing the direction required for meeting the project objectives, including preparing project plans, applying project resources, tracking and reporting on progress, and keeping track of new research and publications relevant to the project.
In collaboration with AC4’s Executive Director, contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of deliberate processes, conferences, and events. This will also involve contributing to synthesis reports on learnings to inform publications and future applied projects.
Evaluating findings, synthesizing results, producing project output reports and launching the final outputs.
He/she is also responsible for engaging and developing relationships with a wide range of interested parties, such as scholars, practitioners, potential funders and policymakers.
Support the coordination of project-related publications and grant/funding proposals. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or its equivalent, plus a minimum of three (3) years of related experience required. Preference will be given to candidates who have a Master’s degree and experience supporting an executive in an academic, research or not-for-profit setting. The ideal candidate will be familiar with contemporary issues of peace and conflict studies and will have a strong commitment to research in these areas.
