WPS Post-Graduate Research Fellows

Lidia Cano

Lidia is a current WPS Post-graduate Research Fellow at AC4. Recently she worked on the design of conflict prevention strategies for the mining sector in Latin America. Previously, she served as a researcher for the RIMISP Latin American Center for Rural Development in Colombia. Before her studies at SIPA, she worked on natural rights and environmental conflict at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) Division for Sustainable Development and at the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO). Lidia has also practiced law as an international legal advisor in both private and public sectors. She holds an M.I.A with a concentration in Energy and Environment and a specialization on International Conflict Resolution from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University.

Hadia Sheerazi

Hadia is a current WPS Post-graduate research fellow at AC4. Her research and advocacy work is focused on the intersections of climate change, sustainability, gender, disaster risk reduction, and peace and security. She is a Climate Reality Leader, youth expert in the Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network, and has served as a delegate at United Nations and World Bank youth summits. She was named a “Global Champion for Women’s Economic Empowerment” by UN Women’s EmpowerWomen team and a “Nominated Changemaker” by the White House Council on Women and Girls’ inaugural United State of Women Summit. Hadia is also one of 60 global Local Pathways Fellows selected by UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth to work on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in their communities. She is pursuing a dual MSc. in Sustainability Management and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University where she is an Ambassador for Girl Rising, ONE Campaign, and Half the Sky.
