Dr. Mukesh Kapila has had extensive experience of international crisis and disaster management in senior positions in the UK Government, the United Nations, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Kapila was Head of the UN mission at the start of the Darfur Crisis in 2003/04. He is now Aegis Trust’s Special Representative for Prevention of Crimes against Humanity and Professor of Global Health and Humanitarian Affairs at Manchester University. His memoir, “Against A Tide of Evil” has just been released, describing Kabila’s decision to violate instructions of his UN superiors and expose the unfolding genocide in Darfur.
