Internship Opportunity with Gulu Women’s Economic Development & Globalization (GWED-G)

Gulu Women’s Economic Development & Globalization (GWED-G) is a women’s rights organization in Gulu, Uganda that was founded in 2004 as a non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental organization. It implements short and long term sustainable development programs in line with Human Rights, Health, Peace building, Economic and Social Empowerment, Psychosocial Support and Education, Research, and Advocacy.

GWED-G has worked with undergraduate students since 2009 and beginning in Summer 2013, GWED-G will be piloting the GWED-G International Internship Program (GIIP). The program is a 3-6 month internship for Master’s students or recent Master’s program graduates from an accredited institution. GIIP is designed to provide mentorship and skills development to graduate students at a field placement in Northern Uganda. This program aims to contribute to the capacity building of expatriate participants who would like to gain fieldwork and hands-on experience working in regions that have suffered from prolonged conflict and war in Uganda.

Candidates must be fluent in English and enrolled in a Masters’ degree program at the moment of application, or have completed it no more than two years ago. Interns will need to be deeply passionate about working in Africa to improve the realization of human rights, health, economic empowerment, peace, and/or policies particularly in rural communities.
