Project Coordinator Position at the MD-ICCCR

The MD-ICCCR seeks a talented individual to help manage office administration and communication media and provide logistics and event management support. Under the leadership of Professor Peter T. Coleman, the research center offers courses, events and applied research, involving the work of Ph.D. students, Masters students and faculty from Teachers College and other partner organizations at Columbia University.

The position is FT and applications are now being accepted!

Essential Functions

1. Office administration (correspondence; telephone inquiries; purchasing supplies; interface to computing support and other TC offices);

2. MD-ICCCR communication, management and support, which includes website design and updates; social media management and updates; managing the professional publications schedule (e.g. academic and popular books); producing flyers for courses, brown bags, mailings;

3. Event planning and implementation, including the annual Morton Deutsch Awards, inter-entity events, brown bag lunches, celebrations, parties, annual retreats;

4. Project support as needed (e.g., Certificate Alumni Project; other special projects).

Other Functions:

1. Equipment maintenance and management (e.g., PCs; printers; etc.);

2. Support for MD-ICCCR courses (e.g., room reservations; course reserves and Moodle; course materials prep, media coordination);

3. Record keeping for above-noted events.

4. Supervise a part-time communications specialist focused on social media and website management.

5. Coordinate efforts between Education Coordinator, Research Assistant, Budget Administrator, and Project administrator in executing academic, communications, logistics, and events based tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Organizational experience (preferably non-profits, businesses or schools); management of projects and resources;
  • Communication strategy and implementation, including strong web site maintenance and social media management skills;
  • Event planning experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication;
  • Ability to interface comfortably with students, faculty, staff and other internal/external stakeholders;
  • Manage competing demands on a daily basis;
  • Strong computer/office suite skills;
  • Strong project and resource management (e.g., equipment, supplies) skills.
