Event on Oct 6: No Place for Children: Public Policy Responses to the Unaccompanied Minor Crisis
Monday, October 6
6:00 – 8:00pm
International Affairs Building, Room 1512
Nearly 50,000 children have crossed into the US so far this year, and the number may nearly double by the end of 2014. The arrival of thousands of undocumented children fleeing violence and poverty in Central America has ignited a national debate and challenged public policy makers. Our distinguished panelists will discuss the challenges and opportunities for responding to this crisis at the national and local level. Please join the Migration Working Group to learn more about how we as policy makers and influencers can respond to this phenomenon.
Panelists include:
Nisha Agarwal, Commissioner, NYC Mayors Office of Immigrant Affairs
Annie Chen, Senior Program Associate, Center for Immigration and Justice at the Vera Institute of Justice
Muzaffar Chisti, Director, Migration Policy Institute
Hans Van de Weerd, Deputy VP of US Programs, International Rescue Committee
