Student Interns needed by Eastern District Federal Courts

The Eastern District of New York will refer 900 cases involving Hurricane Sandy to mediation. Spring and Summer internships are available. Interns will serve on a voluntary basis, without compensation. JD and graduate law students are encouraged to apply. Non Law students–including conflict resolution students, are encouraged to apply.

This internship emphasizes communication and organizational ability and problem solving. Computer and web management skills are a definite plus. Please include your computer skills. Interns must work at least one 8 hour day per week.

Interns will learn about alternative dispute resolution and the differences among the various processes. Interns will view actual mediation and arbitrations. Interns will become familiar with litigation pleadings and motions.

Training sessions for the mediators and arbitrators will be organized. Interns will participate.

Cover letters and resumes should be sent to the attention of Gerald Lepp, by email
