A Glimpse Into North Korea

A First Glimpse of North Korea: Led by Professor Elisabeth Lindenmayer, Director of the United Nations Studies Program, fifteen students are back from their May 2012 visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). Come and listen to their impressions of this enigmatic nation; the first of its kind sponsored by a U.S. university. The event will be moderated by Professor Elisabeth Lindenmayer, will feature a panel of students who visited the DPRK, and commentary from experts on North Korea, Charles K. Armstrong (The Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies in the Social Sciences in the Department of History; Director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University) and Jeong-Ho Roh (Director, Center for Korean Legal Studies and Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia Law School). A reception will follow the event. This event is co-sponsored by a variety of organizations including the United Nations Studies Program, the Conflict Resolution Working Group, the United Nations Studies Program Working Group, the Center for International Conflict Resolution, the Weatherhead East Asian Institute, the Center for Korean Reasearch, the Economic and Political Development Program at SIPA, and AC4 (the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict, and Complexity).
