Division 48 The Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict and Violence Seeks Nominations
Division 48— the Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict, and Violence— is seeking self-nominations for the position of Student and Early Career Chair. The term will begin January 1, 2012. The Student and Early Career chair is responsible for cohering current members and attracting new members. The chair manages the listserv and mentorship programs, aids in selecting the Division’s early career award recipients, and organizes student events at the APA Convention. More generally, he or she represents the student and early career voice in Executive Committee decisions and all Divisional initiatives. Funding for attendance at one or both Executive Committee meetings (one of which occurs at the APA Convention) is available to the chair, as well as money or student and early career development, which could be used for outreach activities, printing of materials, etc.
Eligible candidates may be students, or if graduated, must be no more than 5 years beyond receiving their PhD. If you are interested in the position, please write a brief statement describing your academic or professional activities, your involvement in the Division, and your vision for the Student and Early Career community. Statements should be no longer than 500 words, and should be submitted by December 15th.
