Science of Vaccination Misrepresented by Tennessee Congressman-Elect and Former State Senator

At a town hall event on December 11, 2018, Tennessee Congressman-elect and former State Senator Mark Green appeared to suggest that vaccination can cause Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Senator stated:

“I have committed to people in my community, up in Montgomery County, to stand on the CDC’s [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] desk and get the real data on vaccines. Because there is some concern that the rise in autism is the result of the preservatives that are in our vaccines.”

Contrary to the Senator’s claims, research from the CDC shows that there is no link between vaccination and ASD. The CDCs findings are supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
