Federal Laws on Climate Change

Climate

• Decree Adopting the National Climate Change Strategy (Decree No. 216-2010) 15 December 2010 (Spanish) approves the National Climate Change Strategy of the Honduras Republic in cooperation with Panama.
• Decree Creating the National Climate Change Office (Executive Order No. PCM-022-2010) 30 June 2010 (Spanish) assigns the responsibility of implementing UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol, in addition to domestic policies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
• Decree Adopting the Kyoto Protocol (Decree No. 37-2000) 16 June 2000 (Spanish) approves the Kyoto Protocol.
• Decree Ratification of the Framework Convention of the United Nations of Climate Change (Decree No. 26-95) 29 July 1995 (Spanish) adopted all UNFCCC principles, with the objective to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions, prevent threats to food production, and enable sustainable economic development.

Energy

• Law for the Promotion of Electric Energy Generation from Renewable Resources (Decree No. 70-2007) 29 June 2007 (Spanish) provides financial incentives for the promotion of electric energy.
• Law to Reform the Law of Incentives (Decree No. 45-2000 and 267-98) May 2000 and December 1998 reforms decree 85-98.
• Law of Incentives for Renewable Sources (Decree No. 85-98) April 1998 creates financing and incentive programs for renewable resources.
