Trump Science Nominees Lack Qualifications
On December 5, 2017, the Associated Press (AP) reported that “[w]hen it comes to filling jobs dealing with complex science, environment and health issues, the Trump administration is nominating people with fewer science academic credentials than their Obama predecessor.” According to an analysis by AP, of forty-three Trump administration nominees in science-related positions, only forty-one percent had a master’s degree or doctorate in a science or health-related field. In comparison, during the Obama administration, fifty-eight percent of nominees in science-related positions had a master’s degree or doctorate.
