Science of Viral Infection Treatment Misrepresented by Texas State Representative
On February 26, 2019, while advocating for anti-vaccination legislation, Texas State Representative Bill Zedler suggested that measles, a viral infection, can be cured by antibiotics, which exclusively treat bacterial infections. State Representative Zelder stated:
“[I]n Third World countries they’re dying of measles… Today, with antibiotics and that kind of stuff, they’re not dying in America.”
Contrary to Representative Zedler’s statement, there is currently no known treatment for measles.
