Milwaukee Health Department Employees Prevented from Discussing Lead Contamination

At a city council meeting on January 31, 2018, Milwaukee Health Department employees reported that they had been ordered not to discuss problems with its lead program. The order reportedly came from former Health Commissioner Bevan Baker. One employee said that it was “written policy” under Commissioner Baker that department employees were not to discuss concerns about lead contamination and/or the department’s response with members of the city council.
