Humans’ Role in Climate Change Questioned by Virginia Mayor

In an interview with Reuters on October 25, 2017, James Eskridge, the Mayor of Tangier Island in Virginia, challenged scientific research establishing that human activities are the main cause of climate change. The Mayor stated:

“I believe man plays a part in it but not to the extent that others have been talking about.”

Mayor Eskridge has previously questioned whether climate change is causing sea level rise, stating:

“I’m not a scientist, but I’m a keen observer. If sea level rise is occurring, why am I not seeing signs of it?”
