Florida Officials Barred from Referencing “Climate Change”

On December 27, 2017, the Sun Sentinel reported that Florida Governor Rick Scott “won’t let state employees use the terms “climate change” and “global warming” in official correspondence.” Employees at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection first indicated that they had been banned from discussing “climate change” and “global warming” in early March 2015. It was subsequently reported that the ban also applied to other state agencies, including the Department of Transportation, Department of Health, and South Florida Water Management District. The Sun Sentinel report suggests that the bans remained in place as of December 2017.
