Word “Climate” Removed from EPA Program Name and Website
In December 2016, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s “Climate Ready Water Utilities” program was renamed the “Creating Resilient Water Utilities” program. At the same time, the program website was changed to replace the term “climate change” with “extreme weather,” and remove several references to “climate science” and “climate studies.” A report of the changes notes that they occurred prior to President Trump’s inauguration, “suggesting that EPA employees had started constraining information in anticipation of the incoming chill from the new administration.”
