Power System Resilience Workshop
December 5, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Columbia University, New York City
On Wednesday, December 5, the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, Center on Global Energy Policy, and Environmental Defense Fund will co-host an expert workshop to explore issues relating to power system resilience.
The day-long workshop will take place at Columbia University in New York City. It will bring together leading experts from industry, non-governmental organizations, and academia for a round-table discussion of emerging issues with respect to grid resilience. Key areas of focus will include:
- the current status of efforts on the part of entities responsible for grid oversight — at both the transmission and distribution levels — to assess and respond to disruptions;
- whether and how current efforts can be improved, for example, through changes to the planning, operation, and design of system components;
- how increasingly salient climate-driven impacts and constraints should be accounted for in grid planning, operation, and design; and
- the accuracy of national security assessments, as related to energy resilience, and how and where those assessments may be instructive.
If you are interested in attending the workshop, please contact Romany Webb at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law (rwebb@law.columbia.edu) by October 29. Assistance with travel is available. |
