NHTSA Delays and Reconsiders Rule Establishing Civil Penalties for Fuel Efficiency Violations
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it will indefinitely delay the effective date of an Obama-era rule to increase penalties on automakers that don’t meet fuel efficiency standards. In a separate notice, NHTSA announced that it would reconsider and potentially revise the rule. NHTSA is accepting comments on the rule consideration through October 10, 2017.
