EPA Announces Plans to Revise and Lower GHG Standards for Light Duty Vehicles
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a notice of its Final Determination for its Mid-term Evaluation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Model Year 2022-2025 Light-duty Vehicles. EPA determined that the current standards are “based on outdated information, and that more recent information suggests that the current standards may be too stringent.” EPA therefore intends to initiate a joint process with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to establish new GHG emissions standards and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for light duty vehicles.
