DOE Confirms That it Will Not Withdraw Energy Conservation Standards for Residential Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps
On January 6, 2017, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a final rule establishing energy conservation standards for residential air conditioners and heat pumps. In publishing the rule, DOE stated that the effective date would be May 8, 2017 “unless adverse comment is received by April 26, 2017.”
On May 26, 2017, DOE published a notice confirming the adoption of the energy conservation standards. DOE noted that it had “determined that the comments received in response to that direct final rule do not provide a reasonable basis for withdrawing it.”
