Webinar: Fire in a Changing Climate

The C+S Alumni Board Webinar Series explores a wide range of topics at the intersection of climate and society. In the inaugural webinar, Columbia University, Associate Research Scientist Robert FieldĀ provides an overview of extreme events, focused on the causes and effects of forest fires. He also highlights the emerging science behind this phenomenon and how stakeholders can incorporate changing risks and tipping points into adaptation planning.

 

Speaker Bio
Robert Field is a Columbia University Associate Research Scientist based at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. He is a climate modeler and fire scientist. Dr. Field is interested in the fate and effects of smoke from forest fires, and their underlying causes. His research has included work in Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada and the US. He has a PhD in atmospheric physics from the University of Toronto.
