Location: New York, New York

On March 3, 2010, the Canadian Consulate General, the investment agencies of Ontario and Quebec, and the Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable International Investment co-hosted an interactive strategy session on issues related to cross-border research collaboration in clean technologies. Companies (including IBM, GE, Trilliant and Fasken Martineau) discussed cross border greentech projects during the session, including how to harness Canada’s aggressive R&D tax incentives. Karl P. Sauvant offered opening remarks on FDI and how the financial crisis has affected cross-border investment. In the midst of the clean technology boom, he discussed the impact clean technologies will have on FDI in the coming years and the growth of cross-border collaborations.
